Works from 2013:

 My current goal is to "deconstruct" images which represent past art or are materially from past art works.  Using artwork recycled from past years, I will build on images similar to those going back 40 years while also being more 3 dimensional in nature.  The new works will also be smaller in size and will not be covered in glass.  I want the objects to have a pleasant visual appearance while containing images which may be de-coded by those who understand the content.  Being multi layered in containing visual or intellectual messaging is important to me!   All of these works were done in 2013.

The above construction is made up of six layers of recycled art dating from 1999 to 2002. The picture in front is an altered Warhol "Maralyn Monroe" print.

 Above is a work containing five layers of recycled art.  There are also a number of patched on "panels."  In the center is a fork woven through the paper.  The picture in the upper section is a small copy of a work which I did almost a decade ago.  The face may look male, female, scary, or appear to be an American Indian.

Jim Dine with dripped paint: 2013

The work above is on foam core with crayon, dripped paint, calk, splattered ink, and glued on photos of colors.  It is glued to another board with ribbon glued around the edges.

Brass bird was completed in September of 2013.

CONCEPTUAL WORKS:

NOTE THE PICTURE OF THE WALL PHONE BELOW:

The gallery plan is to be constructed as follows:

1.  six wall phones are placed on a wall around 3 feet apart;

2. when a phone is picked up, a recorded voice is activated;

3. the first recording states the following:  "you see a picture around 4' X 6' with a light blue background.  In the left corner is a grey splash and across the right is a crude line in yellow paint.  In the center..........................................."  The description goes on;

4. the second recording depicts another picture which can only be seen in the mind of the listener;

5. the same for picture, three, four, etc.

6.  the description is illusionary only requiring the listener to mentally create the image in their own mind;

The art experience is as follows:

1.  the viewer creates the art in their own mind

2.  the art is fully mental rather than an image which must be deciphered

3.  the viewer becomes part of the process in making the "art"

Car Art Project 2:

Get a donor car for the project. Have students bring string, rope, cording, or any woven type of twine to the location of the project.  Wrap the car provided for the project with the string brought by the students involved.  Continue wraping the car till it has "lifted off" the ground.  When complete, have the students circle the car and make comments about how the project has impacted them.

Black Phone 2013:

This work was cut from a painting dating back to around 2004.  The corner represents about one fourth of the original work.  After recovering the surface with newly splattered paint, the phone and gold bar were added.  The center is Styrofoam and the edges are wood trimmed (plastic wood trim).  I will use some of the remaining original art!

Crying Priest: 2013

Additional Conceptual works:

Gallery plan:

1. large pieces of ice are placed in a plastic pool

2. several different globs of ink are placed on the ice

3. as the ice melts, the ink mixes together to create abstract shapes

4. over time, when the area is completly dry, an abstract painting is created

The goal:

A.  the artist places the pool, ice, and ink

B.  as the ice melts, art is created through the colaboration of the artist, ice, ink, and nature

C. the end result is a product of the artists actions but can not be fully known till the water and ink dries

Car Art Project I:

First, collect random cars, then stack them up.  After stacked, then remove the bottom car and place on the top of the stack.  Continue rotating cars till a complete cycle has occured!  Repeat the project using different cars in four connected states.
